Ingredient: squalane, helianthus annus (sunflower) oil, isopropyl palmitate, simmondsi chinensis (jojoba) esters, olea europaea (olive) oil, aloe extract, pumica granatum (Pomegranate) extract, cucumis sativus (cucumber) extract), glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) extract, benzyl alcohol, retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), ascorbyl palmitate (vitamin C).
This product has squalane oil, which is very commonly used in Japanese anti-aging cosmetics but I really haven't seen common usage in US. In fact, it's rare to find squalane serum or moisturizer here in US, so I was overjoyed to find this product. Squalane, found naturally in human sebum (..gross..), is said to be one of the most powerful natural moisturizers. It supposed to help cell regeneration and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Hm, let's see if this works.
Texture: It has very thin viscosity like water, but once you pump out the product it is more like thin oil.
This is what the company says about this product (from Dr. Lark's website):
Powerful retinol moisturizer. Soothing botanicals.Known for its ability to reduce fine lines, diminish brown spots, and speed natural cell turnover, retinol can often be a source of frustration for women, who, after use, experience dry, flaky, irritated skin. The good news is that with Trilane Retinol + Vitamin C moisturizer, you don’t have to worry about these harsh side effects!
Using a proprietary blend of retinol, vitamin C, and key botanicals, combined with the ultra-hydrating squalane and firming jojoba esters found in original Trilane Anti-Aging Moisturizer, this powerful antioxidant-packed oil gently hydrates and reduces dryness—something other retinol products have a hard time doing. Plus, cucumber and licorice extracts work to help soothe and calm the skin.
Silky, but nongreasy, this 100% natural golden oil also smoothes skin texture, goes deep into the skin to unclog pores, reduces the appearance of brown spots, AND delivers a powerhouse of gentleexfoliation benefits to help keep your skin fresh and new. Plus, its powerful antioxidant properties help ward off future damage from environmental stresses on your skin. And, you’ll feel the difference within minutes!
Vitamin C was added to brighten and clarify the skin. Combined with retinol, vitamin C helps reduce unwanted irritation associated with retinol-only products.
Plus, Trilane Retinol + Vitamin C moisturizer is gentle enough to use as part of your everyday Trilane skincare routine.
There used to be a co-worker of mine who had a very beautiful skin, despite being much older than I was. When she retired, I had asked what she does to her skin. She told me that she just applied oil around her eyes. Ever since then, I have tried to different oils to my eye area- but I am not an oil fan, I much prefer watery product like a gel. So I struggle to remember to apply oil on my face.
This product is mainly oil based - very nice and thin oil, but oil all the same. I read the instruction and applied it to my face after washing and toning. It took for a long time for my skin to absorb this product. After waiting over half an hour, I gave up, and decided to skip moisturizer and went to bed. Next morning, my skin still felt a bit oily. I am not sure if I can get used to that. But if you are an oil fan, you might really enjoy this. As to when to apply, I am now thinking I should consider this as a 'serum and moisturizer' in one product - if you don't want to forego a serum, apply your usual serum and put this on top as a moisturizer... would be my suggestion because it took long time to dry.
In the end, I personally feel I don't have too mature of the skin that would require this product - as this is very moisturizing, it might be appropriate for drier or older skin. I will continue to use this product on my eye area and my neck before I go to bed, but not on my entire face, as I struggle with the sensation of oil all over my face, not just this product but with any oil I have tried (and I tried a lot - olive, argan, camelia, rosehip, vitamin E, jojoba, coconut, emu... etc...)
Pros: Love the package with pump and rectangular glass bottle, no scent, mostly natural ingredients, very moisturizing, 100% satisfaction guaranteed, very prompt and courteous customer service
Cons: Greasy, glass jar is not easy to travel with.
I am now trying this out as a hair serum as well. I am not a big fan of oil in my hair either, so I thought this product might work well, as it is not a pure oil but an oil blend. Viscosity is thinner than regular oil. If I see major improvement in my hair or neck area, I am sure to let you know!

Psst! The company is currently having a flash sale. It's a good time to go check that out, plus they have a whole range of other products with quality ingredients. I am looking forward to trying another product that's not oil based...
