I got to see Portland Center Stage's new adaptation, Cyrano this week. It's light, it's funny, it's well acted, and shorter than most Cyrano de Bergerac. 7 out of 9 actors are based in Portland/Seattle area, and I enjoyed it. It's perfect for a date night!! So lucky Portlanders, go see this one! It's on untill May 3, tickets are available at www.pcs.org.
As to the "People's Republic of Portland" shown at downstairs in smaller studio, it's also pretty fun, especially for the people from out of town, if they LOVE Portlandia they probably like this one too. I have seen this before, and this year there are some new materials as well.
If I only have one show to pick, I would definitely see Cyrano myself though.
Because now I will talk about Lip Monthly. It is a monthly subscription bag for mainly lip products. It's $10/mo, and it comes in a bag (not a very attractive one judging from the past). If you don't know what a monthly subscription is... It's like a magazine subscription, but for other products. This particular one, for lip gloss, lipliners, lipsticks, etc etc, things girls like. Yeah.
While I said I was going to talk about this, there is very little to talk about.. as I have NEVER received their bags. It's an issue, isn't it, especially if I subscribed in March 2014 and the company has charged my credit card for 2 months. I have contacted the customer service (finding customer service email is another hustle, as there is no "contact us" button on their website, anywhere. If you are wondering, it is email@example.com. you are welcome.) and apparently they are about month behind in sending the product- basically like you have to pay one month deposit and wait for a month before receiving actual products, which is so shameful as I still haven't received anything, and now I totally mistrust this company. I have cancelled or "suspended" my account now, even though I have never seen their bags. The company would not refund my credit card either, so I will be receiving two months of bags, even though I am totally uninterested now. AGH. This is sad, because my impression of the company is terrible. Their practice is unethical, and the customer service is below par. As I live in Portland, I absolutely do not support businesses with poor business practice. I somewhat feel bad, because this is a small business, I LOVE lip products and I also LOVE bags, I am not fund of dissing a company but I wanted to let fellow subscription box lovers to know what to watch out for. If you must try it, be prepared to pay for two months before receiving anything. Luckily it's only $10/mo, but so is Ipsy and birchbox,and they are so much better in terms of customer service and web shopping experience.
And.. I was going to write more but I have exhausted my angry bug. I will find something positive to write about (see PCS above. They always put wonderful shows and I like them a lot.)
