November is not completely over yet, but I wanted to take photos when I have some time and daylight.
When I first discovered "empties," I couldn't understand why people would go through empty containers. Now I do, and I find them very useful. You get to see how other people might have felt after prolonged use (I have given a rave review initially, only to regret later after several use it wasn't what I originally expected it to be). Did they like it? Why or why not? Would they purchase it again?
I wouldn't get into details, but here is an overview of what I emptied this month.
As to the quality of the mask, I felt Tonymoly was too sticky and the FaceShop one was a bit drying. Will look for better suited masks for me in future!
I like receiving travel size items through Ipsy and Birchbox, because I do! Liiv Botanicals eye cream SPF 15 is through Avon. It's very mild and fluid, I have stocked up, have a few more tubes. I like this product.
Lancôme Primordiale skin recharge SPF 15 is pretty rich moisturizer, I recommend for dry skin. I liked it okay. But would not be paying full price for it. (Apparently I had this item for waaaay too long... as Primordiale line has been discontinued in US, and replaced by Bienfait line.)
LasheM Picture Perfect Instant Wrinkle Reducer (5ml) came from Birchbox or Ipsy. This felt very much silicon-y, like primer. I didn't care for this product.
My favorite this month: Liiv Botanicals Eye Cream SPF 15 and Lancome Primordial Skin Recharge SPF 15. They have completely different texture (eye cream is actually a lot thinner). Would I purchase again? Probably not, because I already have a lot of back ups to last at least a year!
So there you have it! Can't wait to start December!! Happy holidays you all!!
I can't believe I never posted this box review - one of more popular ones! It is also one of my favorites ;-)
I liked this so much yet haven't had a chance to use many of the products- I did use the face mask sheet, which was okay. Not my favorite but not bad at all. Looking forward to use the rest of the box!
This box costs over 3 times of Pet Box previously reviewed. But the turkey leg toy totally sold this for me, plus the rest of items are very practical. Good timing and great curation. I Ike this box a lot, and I don't even have a dog!!
Because today I thought "humm, I am bored. I think I will go home and wash my face. "
This is not normal, or is it??
Maybe I need a life... Or another Memebox.
Pet Box comes in different sizes, and I believe this to be smallest at $9/mo. Well, let's hope this is the case as any smaller would be a miniature.
There are two items in the box, one is Aussie Ear 100% natural water buffalo, and Loving Pets It's Purely Natural chicken Jerky bone shaped treats.
Does this box worth $9? I can't tell as I got this box as thanksgiving gifts for my dog loving friends. It seems so.
However, there was no wow value for me... Probably because I have no dogs currently. I think my pals would enjoy though!! ;-)
We all wait to fall in love.
That one thing we can't live without...
We search high and low for this.
And, I am currently very intrigued by this one here.
This is a deluxe sample I obtained online. I think full size come in a pump. While I am waiting for my Memebox, I opened this up to pacify myself (I am typically very good about finishing a product before opening another, but couldn't wait).
Here is a swatch. At first (lower side of my hand), I thought it was way way too light for me. Then..... Magic! Directly above (rest of my hand) is blended in. As you can see, can't hardly tell I have a product on.
I decided to spread this all over my face, as this is what people do with BB or CC or DD or.... That sort of creams. Then, another magic!!!
I look Korean ! Yes, It's that dewy smooth even skin tone!!! Wow. I am LOVING this thing. I stare myself in the mirror. This took away my primer/concealer/foundation (yes, it's that sort of coverage, at least for me) routine and combined in one!! Amazing.
I must declare I am Japanese by birth, and my skin tone is somewhat similar (yet feels different ) to Korean skin tones, light to medium with warm undertone. So I have an advantage in matching it over other Meme sisters from all over the world.
One big sigh , though... What's up with Memebox not selling what's in the box in the store!? They hook us and leave us high and dry. That is not nice, as everyone in narcotics anonymous knows.
I am in love, and now at mercy of other Meme sisters to sell me some one the street... Or something like that (actually I found one online, considering buying it, but I have at least 5 BB or CC creams stashed up. Isn't this glutinous ?!)
I also want to remind you, part of being in love can be a bit of trial and error. I have failed more than once. Here are ones I recently tried.
Here is swatch. Left is Lancôme, right is Dr. Jart. I had Lancôme match my tone at the counter, so the tone matches my skin pretty well (a bit too yellow, but pretty close) although it isn't made specifically for Asians. Dr. Jart has more shimmer and brighter, and works like a brightner, which means I would have to have additional layer of foundation for natural finish.
If you are on the lookout for a perfect match for you, keep on trying- you will eventually find one, maybe when you are least expecting!!
While I am waiting for more Memebox to come, here are cosmetics I love this month!
When I posted this yesterday, I was surprised how little I loved.... That was partially because I kept some at work! Including office favorites as well now.
If I am going outside, it's likely that I will be wearing some sort of sunscreen rain or shine. This puts me on a hunt for a lightweight and effective sunscreen that won't smell bad and won't clog my pores. And... This is IT! Yes, it's expensive ($45 or so) and no, yes, it's light like light moisturizer, has no sunscreen odor, and generally fantastic on my face. love!
From Memebox, this astringent gel has replaced my toner. Despite its name, it does not sting at all! It quickly gets absorbed into my skin and feels fantastic. Retail is $34 according to Memebox, however it is not sold on their website. I must find something else equally fabulous or track this down somehow.
Now, not so good items I tried.....
I got two samples of this from Birchbox, for October and November. This feels great at the time of application, but dries my lips out even worse than they started. Not a big fan. Why did I end up with two?
Barebox Organic Facial Cleanser. This smells fantastic, and its oil based cleanser. Super greasy texture did not fare well with me. barebox says its currently producing non- greasy formula and I would love to try that out!
Philosophy miracle worker foundation SPF 30. This is shade 4.
First of all, the pump applicator dispense way too much product all at once. If you buy this, pump gently and use sparingly!
The product itself is not bad and actually pretty good; however, at this price range ($40), I expect great things. ( no, I don't expect miracle in a jar by the way). Coverage is fine, tone is bit ashy for me, texture is... Like other foundation with no wow factor.
Aloevella Wrinkleless cream. This did nothing to me. Just heavy moisturizer.
Verdict: I have more products I didn't care for than I liked, this is because I am very picky! Having found a good sunscreen for my face and good gel is really great, so I am calling this a win month ;-) Plus I found a few more love items at work! See below.
I shot them together to show how tiny the Vaseline rose lip balm is!! I just love this adorable packaging, and bought a special edition Birchbox just to get this. I don't like dipping my finger in a jar however... This makes my office happy!
Middle item is a winter edition hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works in salted caramel. It smells delicious and I couldn't help it!!
Lastly, large bottle is a hand lotion with the most delicious scent in grapefruit and mandarin! I love anything citrus and they nailed it. I have this big thing in my office so my BF won't use it all by himself! I plan to take this home eventually to share though.
It's the middle of month, which means there are some incoming subscription boxes. I noticed most boxes ships during the second week, and you would likely receive them in the third week... Of course this is generalization for boxes I received in the last couple of months, and I am sure there are variations.
I don't have many subscribed any more, but Bulu Box had 50% off any subscription last month, so I opted for three months. (Means I get 3 months for $30).
With contents, it's green, of course! This is two servings, and you are supposed to take 1-3 servings per day. These are basically grass in capsules. Didn't do anything to me, but it is so hard to decide on these kind of product with just two servings! It didn't seem to harm me either, so that is a start.
Verdict : WOW. I like this month box much much better than the last month!! I like protein bars and shakes. Plus, while I am not sure if I would try Green Coffee Bean Extract, a full size product is something I don't expect out of this box at all. Good job, Bulu Box!! Even if you are paying full price, it's worth the $20 price tag if you are buying green coffee bean extract anyway.
What a treat!! On Monday night, I listened to Alban Gerhardt's beautiful cello piece, Haydn's Cello Concerto, C Major with Oregon Symphony!! Truly, I have never heard cello so soft and gentle- I loved it!! And second half was Mahler's Fifth!!!! It was a bit too heavy for Monday night, or any night really, but I felt so lucky to touch such beautiful piece of music. Thank you Alban!!!
Ps. Besides being an amazing cello player, he just seems like a super nice guy. Many bonus points for him!
