In Portland, Oregon where I reside, we had a very wet December - but it dried out for the last week or so. There is a chance of rain tomorrow, so we decided to enjoy the last day of sunshine!
Where - Columbia Gorge (Oregon side). From Portland, take I-84 exit 28. The parking lot is right off the exist.
How long - We parked in the overflow parking lots slightly up the hill, the distance is about 4.38 miles roundtrip.
Difficulty - Moderate
One thing we didn't anticipate was ice and packed snow - the top 1/2 of the trail is partially covered with ice and slippery. I would recommend hiking poles and/or spikes to attach on your shoes if you are going over there in the next few weeks. It is also windy and cold up the top - so bring layers of clothes. Another reminder - Portland daylight is short in the winter, so make sure to leave early enough (unless you are going for one of those full moon hikes)
