I especially like salt scrubs over sugar scrubs, because salt has tightening effect. I feel as though they would contract my pores.
I love Dead Sea products as they tend to be mineral rich.
So when Adovia offered this product for review, I jumped on it.
What it claims to do: "gently buffs away dead skin cells and infuses your skin with much needed minerals from Dead Sea salt and nutrients from plant oils. Natural oils provide a surprisingly long lasting relief from dry skin with deep moisture and hydration. Leaves skin smooth, moisturized and freshly rejuvenated."
How to use: "massage and rub into skin in a circular motion until you experience the pleasant exfoliating effect. Avoid cuts or open wounds."
Ingredients: Sea salt, paraffinum liquidum, dead sea salt, apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, isopropyl palmitate, isopropyle myristate, sweet almond oil, fragrance, propylene glycole and aloe vera gel and jojoba extract and ginseng extract and chamomile extract and papaya etaract, grape seed oil. May contain dye (yes, because it's such a pretty blue.)
First off, I wasn't so thrilled with the ingredients which includes chemicals along with good stuff. Also the number one ingredients is sea salt, rather than Dead Sea salt, so I was disappointed in that as well.
But it is made in Israel, they have used the salt for centuries, so I assume they know what they are doing.
What: Adovia Dead Sea Salt Scrub "Ocean Breeze" (They have other kinds, such as cucumber melon and lavender, comes in different colors)
How much: $14.95 on Amazon.com
Scent: "old lady perfume". Yuck! Really not a big fan of the scent.
Texture: So, all the blue liquid is mainly oils - it's very greasy and slippery. Be careful if you are using this in the shower, because your surface will be oiled and slippery as well. To my surprise, the granules are not sharp, and it doesn't sting my skin. It's very gentle which I loved. It exfoliate the skin gently and didn't hurt at all.
More than scrub, I was impressed by how moisturizing this is!! I have purchased tons of oils in the last few months, as I heard benefit of natural oils and would like to incorporate more into my skin care routine - but it's hard, as I don't like greasy anything. This one, initially, was super greasy and won't rinse off in the shower, which I hated - HOWEVER, after patting dry with towel, my skin was soft and moist, to the point I didn't have to apply body lotion. and this softness and moisture lasted more than 24 hours!! I only used this product on one leg to compare with the other leg, and there is a noticeable difference.
So while I am not a fan of scent or greasiness, I am very impressed by how well it kept me moisturized and smooth. I know there are shower-in lotion out there and some of you are big fan of these- if you are one of them, give this a try. Not only you don't have to use lotion afterwards, it also exfoliate in the shower. :)
